When you choose to assure the ones in need, with love, care and affection, without any intention of distress or anguish, acts of benevolence and righteousness are the highest gifts and lead to happy states. Giving back to society is in fact vague and misty in nature. There’s so much that we procure from society. There are so many strata of people who make up the whole population of a nation. But they are different from each other. Some are affluent and some are mere stragglers of survival. There are so many instances where masses who don’t even have excess to basic day-to-day requirements. There are also people who have so much in excess, that the amounts if distributed, would solve many problems plaguing most areas around the world. But there comes minimum or negligible effort from us as a whole to emancipate at least the smallest fraction of the problem. There are scriptures of all the faiths that actually teach us to give and share. But perhaps in this fast, mechanical world, the words ‘give’ and ‘share’ have been drooped to nothingness. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer”. No person was ever honoured for what he received. He was honoured for what he gave because success in life does not come from what we have, but from what we give. If we can all give a little more to others, we will not only be be better people ourselves, but the world will be a better place. As Margaret Cho said, sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways, it can change someone else’s life forever.
